A popular fan-cast for the DCU's new Batman becomes a powerful MCU hero in stunning fan art ahead of Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts. Releasing as part of the MCU's Phase 6 on July 25, 2025, Thunderbolts is set to bring together a group of antiheroes and reformed villains, including the likes of Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova and John Walker's US Agent. However, Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts is also expected to debut a formidable new superhero in the MCU, one who was originally thought to be played by The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun prior to his departure from the project.
Since Steven Yeun will no longer be playing Thunderbolts' highly-anticipated new hero, different actors have been imagined as the MCU's answer to Superman: Robert Reynolds' Sentry. In new fan art shared by Samuel Cheve, Alan Ritchson is depicted as the Sentry in his comic-accurate gold-and-blue costume.
Ritchson has recently been a popular fan-cast for the role of Bruce Wayne's Batman in the rebooted DC Universe, following acclaim for his performance in Amazon Prime Video series Reacher. While Ritchson would certainly be able to deliver the power and strength of the Sentry, Marvel Studios seems to have already recast the role.
