Black Widow Actor Slams Marvel Reshoots: "It's Like Being Kicked In The Balls"
Ray Winstone found Marvel's reshoots process for Black Widow to be a nightmare, feeling his performance was criticized.
Though he said it was "soul-destroying," Winstone was contractually obligated to redo his scenes despite wanting to be recast.
Marvel's approach to reshoots left Winstone feeling frustrated, but indicated he had a fine experience up until that point.
One of the Black Widow villain actors breaks his silence on filming the 2021 movie, criticizing the Marvel Cinematic Universe reshoots process. Phase 4 got off to a rocky start as Marvel Studios was affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. That's why Black Widow was one of a few MCU movies to struggle in 2021, since theaters were still struggling to get audience members back in seats due to health protocols.
Ray Winstone, who was part of the Black Widow cast as the villainous Dreykov, revealed in a recent interview with Radio Times that he had far from a great experience during the additional photography of the MCU Phase 4 film. When it came to doing reshoots, Winstone wished he had been recast. He shared the following:

Scarlett Johansson's time with Marvel Studios is over; Florence Pugh has now become the second actor to take on the mantle after debuting as Yelena Belova. However, it begs the question if Black Widow 2 will ever happen with Pugh. Given that the first movie wasn't a commercial success on a $288.5 million budget, Black Widow 2 is not in the cards for the foreseeable future.
However, the MCU has been using Yelena elsewhere since she returned to the Hawkeye TV show. In 2025, Pugh will be back as Yelena in the Thunderbolts movie that she has recently started filming, where she will be one of the central characters of the story.
